At this 2004's Food Service Personnel Conference, we held our FIRST Cookie Bake-Off! Prizes were awarded to all 12 participants. The top three bakers and their award winning recipes are listed below.


First Prize Cookie Recipe

Debbie Borsick's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prize: Braun Power Blender

4 1/2 Cups All-purpose Flour

4 eggs

2 Tsps vanilla

2 cups margarine

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

2 pkg. Vanilla instant pudding (3.4 oz.)

3 1/2 cups chocolate chips

2 Tsps Baking Soda

 

Preheat oven to 350. Mix flour and baking soda. In mixing bowl, cream margarine & sugars together. Mix in pudding. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in between. Add vanilla. Stir in flour mixture. Add chips. Drop dough with a #16 scoop on ungreased sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Makes 36 cookies.

 


Second Prize Cookie Recipe

Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prize: Cuisinart  Hand Blender

2 Cups Flour

1 egg

2 tsps vanilla

1/2 cup margarine

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

1 6oz. package Almond Brickle chips

1 12oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tsp Baking Soda

1/4 cup honey

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

 

 Preheat oven to 350. Mix margarine, sugar, shortening, honey & egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking powder & salt. Add chocolate chips & brickle chips. Drop  by 1/4 cupfuls, 2 inches apart on ungreased sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until edges are golden brown. Cool 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet. Makes 18 cookies.

 


Third Prize Cookie Recipe

 Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prize: Pizza Stone

2 1/2 Cups Flour

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

2 cups chocolate chips

1 tsp Baking Soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup granulated sugar

 

Mix  sugars & shortening together, cream until well blended in large bowl. Add egg & vanilla to sugar mixture. Sift dry ingredients together in a separate  bowl.  Mix sugar mixture and dry ingredients together. Add chocolate chips.  Drop on  ungreased sheet. Bake 9 to 11minutes. Cool 5 minutes. Eat while warm and drink coffee or tea with the cookies!
